Goodbye Summer!
August 14, 2011

Well, everybody summer is slowly winding down and we have come to the official end of Summer Skills Online. Here are some important things to remember:

1) The web pages and all the activities will stay active until through the end of summer. There will be no new assignments, but you will be able to continue working on assignments. Mrs. Hovorka and Mr. Sokoloski will be less active in checking in and posting to the blog over teh next few weeks as we take a little time off and begin to get all the school technology ready for the openning of school.

2) For parents we will discontinue teh automatic weekly emails from Study Island after this week. If you like this information, you can get to it by logging in under you student's account and clicking around a bit. There are various ways that you can look at student information.

3) If you want to be included in the prize drawing, you MUST turn in a log sheet with an adult sign off saying that you completed 80% or more of all of teh "must do" activities for the summer.

4) That log sheet MUST be turned in by Friday September 9th. Grade 5 students will hand in their log sheets to Mr. Griffith or Mr Shay in the MMS Computer Lab. Grade 4 students will hand them into their homeroom teacher or turn it in at the school office (ask the office staff to put it in Mr. Sokoloski's mailbox).

5) It is our understanding that there wil be some sort of survey coming from the BOE office for feedback about all the summer programs offered this year. We will keep you posted on that as it moves along. however if you have specific feed back about the Summer Skills Online program pleasefeel free to drop us an email, or post a comment onteh blog - and that means both parents AND studenst. Tell us what you think, what you liked and did not like.

Lastly, on behalf of Mrs. Hovorka and myself, thank you for your participation and have a great end of summer.

Mr. Sokoloski

P.S. Here is a picture from my vacation days on Prince Edward Island, Canada. A bagpiper playing at the College of Piping, Summerside, PEI.
